Having your wedding in an exotic location with stunning settings makes it a unique and memorable experience for you and your guests; however, it is not the best option for everyone. Things to consider regarding destination weddings:

Cost

Many couples find that a destination wedding is a more affordable option. Many properties offer complimentary wedding packages. Upgrades and additional options are often less expensive than traditional wedding services. Plus, combining the wedding and honeymoon costs can be financially advantageous and make for a less stressful planning process.

Some guests may be unable to attend your destination wedding due to travel costs. Others will be excited for the opportunity to have a memorable vacation experience. Before booking, we suggest that you get a feel for who will be able to attend, so you can make an informed decision on whether or not your closest family and friends will be able to experience your special day. Upon return, some couples host informal parties to share the experience with loved ones that were unable to attend – you will inevitably have remarkable photos and videos to show off!

Personal Preferences

With traditional wedding planning, the focus can quickly shift from the couple’s wishes to pleasing loved ones. The smaller size of a destination wedding allows for a more intimate experience customized specifically with the bride and groom in mind. While the quantity of guests able to attend your event may be smaller, the quality of the experience will be unforgettable.

Type of Ceremony

Religious – Many properties have options for religious ceremonies, but denomination may vary by location. Religious ceremonies can be either legally binding or symbolic. Some couples have chosen to invite someone from their church to accompany them to the destination to perform the ceremony.

Legal – Legally binding ceremonies will be registered in both the country of the ceremony and country of residence. The requirements vary based on location.

Symbolic – Ceremonies to share the experience of exchanging vows with family and friends and capture the moment on film. Many couples choose this option in conjunction with a legal marriage performed at their local courthouse.

Once you have decided that you want a destination wedding, we are here to help you navigate the entire process - picking an amazing property in a great destination, coordinating flight schedules from multiple airports, getting the best group rates, and more. Additionally, we will connect you with a wedding coordinator to assist you with ceremony details, because we understand there is much more to your destination wedding than just travel arrangements.
